With rifles in hand, threatening and pointing at officials and clients. In this way, the guerrillas of the FARC dissidents arrived to assault the headquarters of the Banco Agrario de Corinto (Cauca).

The videos recorded by the bank’s security cameras show the aggressive manner in which the guerrillas took over the bank headquarters. The clients, it is seen, run from one side to the other trying to leave the place, while the officials who were in their offices seek refuge.

One of the cashiers is at the mercy of the guerrillas who point their rifles at him. In fact, according to the Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez, 30 million pesos were stolen from the Citizen Income and VAT Refund program.

In their escape, the guerrillas ran into Army troops, which sparked fighting in the middle of the town’s streets. The confrontation was also captured on videos.

“In Corinto, we are in a war against the illegal armed groups of the FARC dissident structures, such as ‘Dagoberto Ramos’, ‘Jaime Martínez’ and ‘Carlos Patiño’,” Velasquez assured.

In Caloto, another municipality in Cauca near Corinto, an assault was also recorded where the guerrillas stole close to 15 million pesos. According to unofficial information, in their escape they left bomb cylinders that were deactivated by the Army.

Banco Agrario restored service

Through its X account, Banco Agrario reported that, after conversations and commitments made by the Public Force, On October 9, the entity’s service was restored.

Hernando Chica Zuccardi, president of Banco Agrario, in turn, rejected the attacks and harassment of groups outside the Law in the municipalities of Corinto and Caloto, which caused chaos and panic not only for the officials, but also for the users who were in the bank at that time.

“With these acts of vandalism, in which our offices are affected, The most affected is the community, particularly the client and user families where there are also beneficiaries of the Citizen Income and VAT Refund transfers.”indicated the official.

He assured that, on this occasion, there was no material damage to the entity’s headquarters and highlighted that the most important thing is that the “officials suffered no injuries and there was no loss of human life.”
