Colombian authorities investigate death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins

Colombian authorities launched an investigation to establish the causes of death of Taylor Hawkinsdrummer of the American rock group Foo Fighterswho was found dead in a hotel room in the capital of the South American country.

The band announced the musician’s death on its Twitter account, but did not reveal the causes.

A source from the Attorney General said:

“We have launched an investigation to establish the causes of the musician’s death, but at the moment we do not have any information available to disclose.”

The Secretariat of Health of Bogotá informed that it received a report on a patient with chest pain in a hotel north of the city and sent an ambulance.

However, an ambulance from a private company first arrived at the scene of the emergency and the health professional who attended the case proceeded to carry out the respective resuscitation maneuvers without responsefor which the patient was declared dead, the Bogota Mayor’s office specified in a statement.

Foo Fighters had arrived in the Colombian capital to participate in the Stereo Picnic Festival on the outskirts of Bogotá. The group’s presentation, scheduled for Friday night, was canceled as well as a scheduled tour of several Latin American countries.

“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and unexpected loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and contagious laughter They will remain alive with all of us forever, ”said the musical group on their Twitter account.

“Our hearts go out to his wife, his children and his familyand we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect at this unimaginably difficult time.”

Several musicians reacted to the news of the death of the 50 year old drummer.

Hawkins “was really a great person and an amazing musician. My heart, love and condolences go out to his wife, his children, his family, his band and his fans,” British rocker Ozzy Osbourne said on Twitter. “See you on the other side.”

Canadian rockers Nickelback said they were in “complete disbelief at the Taylor Hawkins news” and said it was “so unbelievably sad.”

Foo Fighters was founded in 1994 by Dave Grohl.the drummer for the grunge band Nirvana, following the death of Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain.

The band, which includes bassist Nate Mendelya the guitarists Chris Shiflett y Pat Smearhas released 10 studio albums led by singles such as “Everlong”, “Times Like These” and “Learn To Fly”.

The group has won 12 Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.

“God bless you Taylor Hawkins. I loved your spirit and your unstoppable rock power. Rest in peace my friend,” tweeted Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine.

Gene Simmons y Paul Stanleymembers of the rock group KISS, also mourned Hawkins’ death, along with Guns N’ Roses, Slash and several other musicians.
