In order to strengthen response mechanisms in the event of a hydrocarbon spill on the seabed, the General Maritime Directorate (Dimar) of Colombiathrough the Port Authority of Urabá and Darién, led a loss of hydrocarbon containment exercise at the dock of the fuel distributor Proxxon, located in Bahía Colombia of the Gulf of Urabá.
The activity, which included the participation of the crew of the BT Ana María, the Punta Las Vacas Port Company and the Turbo Municipal Risk Management Council (CMGRD), tested the devices for the notification of these events to the Maritime Authority, as well as the effectiveness of the contingency plans of the ship and the fuel distributor for the attention of spills in the sea.
The General Maritime Directorate continues to coordinate efforts with the other civil and military authorities, in order to promptly attend to any incident that puts human life at risk at sea, the marine environment and the strategic infrastructure of the Turbo port.
