The Colombian National Team dropped one place compared to the last ranking published in September in which it was ninth with 1738.72 units. Losing 0-1 against Bolivia on the ninth round of the World Cup Qualifiers cost them the undefeated record of 28 rounds, points and one position, but the 4-0 victory against Chile allowed them to remain in the top 10. They were only surpassed by the national team of Italy that drew 2-2 with Belgium and beat Israel 4-1 in the Nations League.
Now, Colombia has 1724.37 points, while Argentina is the leader and has 1889.02. The second best South American is Brazil in fifth position with 1784.37, while Uruguay, which lost 0-1 against Peru and tied 0-0 with Ecuador, dropped three places, went from 11th to 14th place and has 1680.36 points.

On the 11th, Colombia will visit Uruguay on November 15 at 7:00 pm, and for the following day, it will receive Ecuador at the Metropolitan Stadium in Barranquilla, on November 19, at 6:00 pm. The schedule was changed due to humidity and heat issues, arguing that at 3:30 pm, the time they played until the previous date, it hits the ‘sandy’ hard.
Those led by NĆ©stor Lorenzo are currently in second position in the South American Qualifiers with 19 points, the result of 5 wins, 4 draws and 1 loss, one step away from qualifying for the World Cup. Argentina also leads this standings with 22 units, and Uruguay is third with 16.

Interview with Sports Analyst Juan PĆ©rez on Colombia’s National Football Team Ranking
Editor: Welcome to the show, Juan. The Colombian National Team recently dropped one spot to ā¢tenth inā the FIFA rankings after their performance in the World Cup ā¤Qualifiers. What are your thoughts on this shift?
Juan PĆ©rez: Thank you for having me. It’s certainly disappointingā for fans,ā¤ especially after maintaining a lengthy undefeated streak. The loss to Bolivia was a tough blow, andā although the convincing win against Chile helped mitigate the fall, it reflects the unpredictable nature of international football.ā
Editor: Absolutely. The Colombian team now has ā¢1724.37 points, still a strong position overall.ā How do you perceive their performance compared to other Southā¢ American teams like ā¢Argentina and Brazil?
Juan PĆ©rez: Colombia remains competitive, but itās evident that Argentina and Brazil are in a class of their own right now. Argentina, leading the rankings, shows consistent results, andā¢ Brazilās recent performances, despite being in fifth, highlight their strength. Colombia needs to ensure that ā¢losses against teams ālike Bolivia donāt become a pattern if they want to compete at the highest level.
Editor: You mentioned the ā¢loss against Bolivia. How important do you think it is for the team to maintain composure after such upsets?
Juan PĆ©rez: It’s crucial. The mental aspect of the game cannotā be underestimated. After a loss, the team needs to regroup andā focus on their strengths. The victory against Chile is a good example of how quickly fortunes can change. Building ā¢momentum is essential as they continue in the qualifiers.
Editor: Looking ahead, what should be the focus for the āColombian national team to improve its ā£standing?
Juan PĆ©rez: They need to solidify their defense and ensure they capitalize on scoring opportunities. Consistency in performance will be key, ā¢along with fosteringā¢ a strong team spirit. Engaging with fans and maintaining high morale can also motivate the players during challenging times.
Editor: ā¤ Thank you, āJuan, for your insights. We appreciate your take on the Colombianā¢ National Team’s currentā situation.
Juanā¢ PĆ©rez: Thank you for having me. Let’s hope for a strong response from the team in their upcoming matches!
R resilience. Colombia needs to continue picking up points in the qualifiers to solidify their position and aim for that coveted World Cup spot.
Editor: Speaking of the qualifiers, Colombia has upcoming matches against Uruguay and Ecuador. How crucial are these games for their qualification chances?
Juan PĆ©rez: These matches are absolutely critical for Colombia. Uruguay has been a tough competitor, and given their current ranking, this match will be a real test. They need to secure points against Ecuador as well, especially playing at home. Itās an excellent opportunity for Colombia to capitalize on home advantage and gain momentum as they push towards qualification.
Editor: Given that the schedule was adjusted due to the harsh conditions, how do you think the new timing will affect their performance?
Juan PĆ©rez: The change to a later kickoff is definitely beneficial. The extreme heat and humidity can severely impact player performance. By playing at 6:00 pm instead of the earlier time, Colombia will have better conditions to showcase their skills, which could be a game-changer in terms of energy levels and overall gameplay.
Editor: what do you think the Colombian team needs to focus on to maintain their position as they move forward?
Juan PĆ©rez: They need to solidify their defense. The loss to Bolivia highlighted some vulnerabilities that need addressing. Additionally, maintaining consistency in scoring will be pivotal. Building chemistry among players, especially with new faces in the squad, will bring the cohesiveness necessary for strong performances in the critical matches ahead.
Editor: Thank you, Juan, for your insights on the Colombian National Team’s current standings and what lies ahead in the qualifiers.
Juan PĆ©rez: Thank you for having me! Itās always a pleasure to discuss the beautiful game.
