An AUA machine on the way from Vienna to New York turned around on Sunday evening. Problems arose shortly following the start shortly before 5 p.m., as reported by the “Austrian Wings” portal. The pilots therefore turned around for safety reasons and, following waiting in a queue, landed once more at Vienna-Schwechat Airport one hour following take-off. The reason for the unscheduled return was a collision with a bird.
The aircraft is now being technically checked and affected passengers will be rebooked, it said. The flight from New York to Vienna planned for Sunday also had to be cancelled.
