The police’s crime technicians have finished the external investigations of the two vessels that were seized in connection with the jet ski accident in Hidlefjorden, north of Stavanger, writes Stavanger Aftenblad.
– Both vessels show that there has been a strong collision. Naturally, the biggest damage is to the jet ski. The investigations do not weaken the hypothesis that there has been contact between the two vessels. We want to carry out some analyzes that might give us more answers, says police attorney Øyvind Bore in the Sørvest police district to the newspaper.
It was on Sunday that the police received a report about wreckage from a jet ski in Hidlefjorden. Shortly afterwards, Gabriel Johan Misiewicz-Myhre (15) and Noah Østerhus Ask (16) were found dead in the fjord.
A boat driver in his 30s has explained to the police that he hit something in the sea that same night. At around 1.30am he contacted the police, who forwarded him to the Central Rescue Service (HRS), who allegedly advised him to drive on.
VG writes that the National Accident Investigation Board will investigate the incident.
– We were notified quickly after the incident and quickly decided to carry out an initial investigation to understand what had happened, says department director Dag S. Liseth in the Norwegian Accident Investigation Board for maritime accidents to VG.
