Collision of two South Korean Air Force planes leaves four dead

Seoul, Apr 1 (EFE) .- Four South Korean military pilots died today following the two KT-1 training planes they were on board collided in the air, reported the Air Force of the Asian country.

The two planes collided with each other around 1:37 p.m. local time (4:37 GMT) and crashed into a rice paddy in the town of Sacheon, regarding 300 kilometers south of Seoul.

Some 60 firefighters went to the scene of the accident and also had to put out a fire on the roof of a nearby church caused by the burning remains of one of the two planes.

The Air Force has announced the formation of a committee to investigate the event, the Yonhap news agency reported.

The KT-1 is a South Korean-made single-engine, two-seat turboprop aircraft that has been used for basic training programs since 2000.
