The child stepped onto the road behind a tram. Although the officers were driving at a much reduced speed, the collision was unavoidable. The ten-year-old was given emergency medical treatment by the Vienna emergency services and was taken to hospital with injuries. His life was never in danger. The traffic accident command of the state traffic department recorded the accident, the police said.
