The Vy bus that collided with the car was on its way from Stavanger to Oslo. Around 60 passengers were on board the bus when the accident happened.
Heard a bang
NTB journalist Astrid Midtun was among the passengers on the bus. She says the bus and the car collided head-on. At 19.30, traffic is at a standstill in both directions.
– We heard a loud bang when it happened, but the emergency services arrived at the scene very quickly, says Midtun.
She says there was a doctor nearby who helped the driver before the ambulance arrived.
– People behaved calmly, but of course it was uncomfortable. The bus driver has also been decent and kept calm, she says further.
The accident must have happened on the section where Nye Veier has postponed the construction of the new E39.
60 passengers
According to the NTB journalist, the police spoke to passengers on the bus after the incident.
A new bus is on its way to the site. The passengers are transported further in the direction of Oslo when the new bus arrives.
Bus driver Kim Rune Jensen tells The friend of the fatherland that the car must have crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with the bus he was driving.
– None of the passengers are physically injured, but one woman is being looked after by paramedics because she was shocked. And another passenger who wasn’t wearing a seat belt got a little jolt, says Jensen.
