Collins Aerospace celebrates 10 years of establishment in Morocco

The site has been expanded by more than 40% since its construction in 2012 and plans to double its workforce within the next five years. Well established in the Moroccan aeronautical ecosystem, Collins continues to develop its chain of suppliers in the country. During a ceremony attended by Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, Collins Aerospace today celebrated the 10th anniversary of its establishment in Morocco.

Built in 2012, the Nouaceur – Casablanca plant carries out the final assembly and testing of cockpit and cabin equipment for commercial aircraft, such as mini-sticks, throttles, pedals, or door actuators. With the production ramp-up, the site was expanded in 2020 by almost 40% for the manufacture of the rudder bar for the Airbus A320neo family and to also accommodate the assembly of horizontal plane actuators (THSA) for the Boeing 777X. Thanks to this dynamic, the workforce on the site should double over the next five years to meet the growing needs of aircraft manufacturers.

“With the extension of the Ratier Figeac Maroc site, our strategic partnership with Collins Aerospace is further strengthened. Throughout the 10 years of its high value-added activity, RFM has contributed to densify the local supply chain and to the influence of ‘Made in Morocco’, affirming, unequivocally, the attractiveness of Morocco as a reliable and credibility of world leaders, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI”, said Mezzour, on the occasion. And to emphasize: “We will spare no effort to ensure that the group’s supply ecosystem is as competitive as possible and allows the Moroccan platform to get in tune with global trends geared towards sustainable production”.

“This celebration demonstrates the success of our development strategy in Morocco and of the “Best Cost, Best Quality, Best Delivery” industrial scheme that we have implemented between Collins Aerospace, major contractors, local suppliers, with the Moroccan government support said Jean-François Chanut, vice president and general manager of the Propeller Systems business for Collins Aerospace. “Thanks to the support of the entire ecosystem, in particular the Institut des Métiers de l’Aéronautique (IMA), we were able to increase our teams’ skills to win new contracts and develop our activity until the very recent signing an agreement with the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the development of a supply network and local suppliers to further develop the aeronautical industry in Morocco”.

The Collins Aerospace site in Casablanca currently employs 135 people and is one of the major players in the Moroccan aeronautics sector.
