College Wrestling Results: Flashes Drop Duals to Duke and WVU, Castro Shines

MORGANTOWN- Pablo Castro picked up a pair of victories on Sunday but the Flashes dropped a pair of duals, 24-17 to Duke and 44-3 to the host Mountaineers.

Castro earned a 6-2 victory over Davin Rhoads of West Virginia in the opener on Sunday. Castro used a pair of takedowns to highlight his sixth victory of the year. He earned victory number seven on the early season with a dominant 13-1 major decision over Duke’s Ray Adams. Castro had four takedowns in the one-sided win.

Billy Meiszner split his matches on Sunday, falling to #22 Jordan Titus in the opener before earning a 12-3 major decision in a victory over Duke’s Peter Chacon. At 165 pounds, Aaron Ferguson rebounded from a first-match setback to earn a 6-2 victory once morest Duke’s Aidan Wallace. Ferguson had a takedown and an escape-reversal combo to tilt the match in his favor.  After losing a tough opening match to Austin Cooley of WVU, Blake Schaffer responded in a big way in the Duke dual. Schaffer made quick work of Kwasi Bonsu of the Blue Devils, earning a fall a little over two minutes into the opening round.

The full results of the duals are below. The Flashes are back in action next Saturday at the Navy Classic.
