On the sidelines of its plenary on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, the National Transition Council (CNT) requested an end to the activity linked to the immobilization and impoundment of vehicles for improper parking.
The reason is due to the fact that fines for dangerous parking, annoying parking or improper parking have not been paid to the Public Treasury for many years in Guinea. The National Transition Council had pointed this out to the transitional authorities by recommending regulations in this direction during the examination of the 2023 amending finance law last September.
At the end of December, the situation still persists. Officers continue to charge offenders fines but no revenue is paid to the public treasury. This is why the institution headed by Dansa Kourouma is asking the departments responsible for Economy and Finance, Security and Civil Protection and Territorial Administration to suspend this activity.
“Given that revenues from fines linked to improper parking of vehicles are not paid to the Treasury, the CNT invites the government to suspend this activity pending the establishment of regulations allowing the payment of said revenues to the Treasury Public,” declared Fatima Camara, rapporteur of the Planning, Financial Affairs and Budgetary Control Commission at the CNT.
