Collaborative Efforts to Enhance Road Safety: Results and Actions in Luxembourg Province

The King’s Prosecutor, Etienne Donnay, the Governor of the Province, Olivier Schmitz, the federal police and the local police zones of the judicial district of Luxembourg have decided to join forces to improve road safety on the roads. In this context, a joint action protocol was signed at the end of 2021.

From 23 to 26 June, in parallel with the national action “Weekend without drunk driving”, several checks took place in the province of Luxembourg. No less than 36 police officers were engaged at several checkpoints.

10 permits withdrawn

The police have just communicated the results of these checks. Many minutes were drawn up. Thus, there is 1 PV for carrying prohibited weapons, 3 PV for possession of narcotics, 1 PV for false driving license, 7 Immediate perceptions, in particular for use of mobile phone while driving and speeding, 4 PV for warning and 10 permits withdrawn for 15 days. Three people were deprived of their liberty. Of the 842 breath tests carried out, 818 were “Safe” (97.1%), 14 “Positive” (1.7%) and 10 “Alert” (1.2%)

Festival “No Name”

The police also report that a joint operation took place within the framework of the “No Name” festival in Vielsalm on Friday 23 June. 37 police officers were hired around this festival organized at La Baraque de Fraiture.

Regarding drugs while driving, of the 15 saliva tests carried out, 5 were positive, 10 negative. 5 vehicles were immobilized for 12 hours.

Of the 376 breath tests carried out, 372 were “Safe” (98.9%) and 4 “Positive” (1.1%). 4 permits were withdrawn for 15 days. 11 court reports relating to narcotics were drawn up. The police announce that in total, the officers made 23 seizures of illicit products, including popers, ketamine and XTC.
