Lesson Study is a professional development process carried out by teachers by observing and testing learning practices regularly. The purpose of Lesson Study is to increase effectiveness in teaching activities.

Through Lesson Study, teachers can learn directly from Japanese best practices. By observing and evaluating problem-solving-based mathematics learning, teachers can develop their teaching skills and adjust their learning methods to be more effective for Indonesian students.

The implementation of this activity involved 30 grade 1 students and 30 grade 3 students from SD Negeri Grogol Utara 3. The 60 students carried out mathematics learning activities with a team of elementary school teachers from Japan who were brought by CRICED to Indonesia.

“Hopefully, what we will implement later with the good practices displayed by the University of Tsukuba will provide reinforcement, especially related to the implementation of the Independent Curriculum,” said the Director of Elementary Education Teachers and Education Personnel, Rachmadi Widdiharto, Thursday (22/8).

On that occasion, the Director of SEAQIM, Sumardyono, expressed his hope that the presence of teachers from Japan could have a positive impact on mathematics learning in Indonesia and that this program could continue.
