Hey guys! How are you? Today I came here to talk regarding a delicious and refreshing salad that I’m sure you’ve seen in a movie at the cinema: the cabbage salad also called coleslaw!
The coleslaw salad has dutch origin and its origin dates back to the 17th century. The name “coleslaw” is a variation of the Dutch word “coleslaw“, that means “cabbage salad“. The salad was made with cabbage and was eaten as a accompaniment for meatsespecially in winter.
Over time, the recipe evolved and acquired new ingredients, such as carrots, and mayonnaise began to be used as a sauce, giving the creaminess that is so characteristic of today’s coleslaw salad.
Today, coleslaw is a common salad in many countriesincluding the United States, where it is often served as tracking for dishes from grilled meat or chicken and it’s a popular option for outdoor eventsas barbecue.
This salad, which is made with cabbage, carrots and mayonnaise, is perfect for those hot summer days or to accompany a snack. In addition, it is super easy to make and can be modified according to your taste, adding ingredients like cucumber, raisins or nuts.
As always, let’s go to the basic recipe and then I’ll show you how I do it, because you know I love to do it my way!
Ingredients:
- 1 red cabbage cut into thin strips
- 2 grated carrots
- 1 cup of mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation mode:

- In another bowl, mix mayonnaise, lemon juice, sugar, apple cider vinegar, salt and pepper. Add this mixture to the bowl with the cabbage and carrots.
