Cole Caufield is like “a kid in a candy store!”

Cole Caufield leaves no one indifferent and he makes people talk regarding himself even when he is on the sidelines. From his first outings with the Canadiens, he caught the spotlight, whether for his scoring skills or his big, ear-to-ear smile.

For Tyler Toffoli, Caufield is without a doubt the funniest person he has ever met.

“He is something!” dropped the Calgary Flames’ leading scorer during his recent podcast stint Empty Netters.

Toffoli did not know Caufield until he signed his first professional contract at the end of his college career in March 2021.

“He held attention in the locker room, says Toffoli. He spoke to all the players. Even Webby [le capitaine Shea Weber] said to listen to him. I said to myself: “what is this rookie doing?”

Caufield had played two games with the Laval Rocket school club before joining the CH at the end of the season, playing 10 games in which he impressed with four goals and an assist. The 5’7″ American, then 20, went on to score 12 points in 20 playoff games, helping the Habs reach the Stanley Cup Finals.

“I laughed, because he laughed and always had the giggles, continues the author of 31 goals and 36 assists this season with the Flames. Looks like he’s still having the time of his life. I swear to God, he’s like a kid in a candy store!”

“Every day, before I even had time to finish my coffee, this guy was already so wide awake, and he was always regarding to have the best of days,” adds Toffoli.

The 30-year-old Ontarian will only have played regarding 60 games with Caufield, being traded to Calgary for Emil Heineman, Tyler Pitlick and draft picks in February 2022. But he will have had time to shoot a McDonald’s commercial with him.

As for Caufield, he was heading for the best campaign of his young career, with a collection of 26 goals and 36 points in 46 meetings, before seeing his season come to an end due to right shoulder surgery.
