A female employee in Hangzhou, mainland China asked the company for leave because her grandmother was critically ill, but HR asked her to prove that “the critically ill grandmother is your grandmother”, and she had to show detailed information such as a transcript of her household registration before granting leave. She was so angry that the female employee left and reported this matter.
According to Lu media reports, the woman surnamed Zhang, who has resigned, said that she received a phone call that her grandmother was critically ill at work a few days ago. She immediately reported the situation and asked for leave to the team leader, and gave the “critical illness notice” to the human resources on the same day as the team leader requested. How do you know? She was already at the airport preparing to take a flight, and HR actually summoned her to “prove that my grandma is my grandma”.
Human resources successively asked her to provide her grandmother’s ID card, household registration transcript and other materials to prove that “the critically ill grandmother is your own grandmother”, and also threatened Zhang Nv, who reported that the information request was too difficult, “I ask for leave without authorization with false reasons, and I will disclose it to the whole company.
