Colapinto is disqualified and Montoya rises to second place in the F3 Sprint in Melbourne

Argentine driver Franco Colapinto lost victory in the F3 Sprint race in Melbourne following a post-race inspection found a technical violation on his car.

The MP Motorsport driver had achieved his first victory of the 2023 season, but was stripped of this result when bodywork parts were found outside the regulatory limits, infringing articles 1.3 and 2.5 of the Technical Regulations. Modifications to the geometry of the parts in question are prohibited by the regulation, outside of basic repairs.

MP Motorsport drivers Mari Boya and Jonny Edgar have also been disqualified from the race for the same technical violation detected on Colapinto’s car.

With this modification, PREMA Racing’s Zak O’Sullivan inherits the victory, moving Sebastián Montoya to second position and Paul Aron to third.

The Feature Race will take place today at 6:00 p.m. (Colombia), 8:00 p.m. (Argentina). There the Colombian-American Sebastián Montoya will start from twelfth place and the Argentine Franco Colapinto from seventh place.
