The Cognitive Intervention Therapy Society held the Spring Conference
Current and Future Prospects of Cognitive Intervention Therapy
With the rapid aging of the population, the number of people with dementia is expected to increase. Already, 1 in 10 elderly people aged 65 years or older have been reported to have dementia, and 1 in 5 people have mild cognitive impairment.
While various treatment methods are being sought, ‘cognitive interventional therapy’ is attracting attention thanks to the change in medical paradigm and the development of digital technology. Cognitive intervention therapy is a treatment that stimulates, trains, and rehabilitates the cognitive function of the brain using digital medical devices such as VR (a state-of-the-art technology that allows you to experience virtual reality through a computer), and its preventive effect has been proven through active research. This is why experts are raising their voices for the active introduction of cognitive intervention therapy.
A place to publicize these voices and examine the present and future of cognitive interventional therapy will be held.
The Society for Cognitive Intervention Therapy will hold the ‘2023 Spring Conference’ on the 12th floor of Daeyang AI Hall, Sejong University.
In this conference, psychiatrists and neurologists, as well as companies developing digital treatment devices in the field of cognitive interventional therapy, will participate to share the latest knowledge and clinical research results.
In particular, as research results have recently been announced that sleep disorders such as insomnia increase the risk of dementia, the association between sleep and Alzheimer’s disease will be explored and the medical basis for cognitive intervention treatment in sleep disorders will be examined. There was also a place to share the development process, effects, and clinical application results of Soames, the first digital treatment device to treat insomnia.
In addition, the current status and problems of the development of digital therapeutics for Alzheimer’s disease at home and abroad will be reviewed, and time will be given to seek new directions for the development of cognitive interventional treatment. In addition, non-pharmacological interventional treatment that can alleviate various symptoms accompanying dementia will be examined in more depth.
Choi Seong-hye, president of the Society for Cognitive Interventional Therapy, said, “The rate of aging is faster than any other country at home and abroad.” She continued, “I hope this spring conference will be an opportunity to learn practical knowledge that can be applied directly to cognitive intervention research.” I hope it is,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Cognitive Interventional Therapy Society, established in 2017, is actively conducting academic and educational activities on various non-pharmacological approaches as well as cognitive interventional treatment for the prevention of dementia. It is taking the lead in improving the effectiveness of prevention and treatment of dementia by holding workshops related to cognitive intervention therapy as well as spring and fall academic conferences twice a year.
