Shaaban cited a previous study that denies the validity of this myth, explaining that drinking coffee at a rate of one to 3 cups per day reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.

He added that the researchers also noted that drinking coffee in the same amount per day contributed to reducing death rates among people with heart disease participating in the study.

Shaaban confirmed that some people avoid coffee, for fear of experiencing palpitations following drinking it, but the truth is that it helps to reduce the incidence of electrocardiogram.

Coffee derives its benefits for heart health from containing more than 100 biologically active compounds, which help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, improve insulin sensitivity in the body, enhance metabolism and reduce intestinal absorption of fats, according to the American College of Cardiology.

However, coffee should be consumed in moderation, because excessive amounts of it lead to high blood pressure, due to its high caffeine content.

On the other hand, Shaaban recommended staying away from sugary drinks, such as soft drinks, diet soda, energy drinks, and canned juices, because they increase the risk of high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, and diabetes.

He explained that these drinks are faulty because they contain a high percentage of sugars and caffeine.
