” ## Hitting the Road for Literacy: LA Nonprofit Teams Up with West Coast Customs to Launch Free Bookmobile

Los Angeles awoke to exciting news with the announcement of a unique partnership between the Code Read, a youth-led non-profit dedicated to promoting literacy, and world-renowned custom automotive shop, West Coast Customs. Together, they are launching a one-of-a-kind customizable bookmobile designed to bring free books directly to children in need across Los Angeles.

“This bookmobile is an amazing opportunity to reach more kids and communities than ever before,” shares Madelyn Krestul, Code Read Senior Ambassador. At 16 years young, Madelyn truly understands the impact this project holds for so many. “We’re so excited for the new opportunities it brings to our programs. I can’t wait to see how many books we’re able to give away when we launch in 2025.”

“The Code Read Bookmobile represents a unique blend of our passion for customized vehicles and commitment to our community,” states Ryan Friedlinghaus, West Coast Customs Founder and CEO. “It’s more than just a vehicle; it’s a beacon of hope and learning.”

The Code Read Bookmobile will travel throughout Los Angeles, targeting schools, community centers, and neighborhoods where hitting the pages of a book is an often-missed opportunity.

“Since its inception, Code Read has distributed over 60,000 new books to schools, shelters, and underserved communities across Los Angeles.

We know firsthand the difference a good book can make,” explains Mackenzie Robin Krestul, Founder and President of Code Read. “Partnering with West Coast Customs to create this incredible bookmobile allows us to reach even more children and spark a love of reading in communities across Los Angeles. We are truly excited to bring the joy of books to children who might not otherwise have access.”

More than just a mobile bookstore, the Code Read Bookmobile aims to create engaging experiences. It acts as both a physical and symbolic bridge, connecting children with the power of stories and the joy of reading.

“We will host reading events, storytelling sessions, and hands-on activities designed to engage and empower young readers,” continues Mackenzie Robin Krestul.

West Coast Customs has transformed a standard vehicle into an eye-catching, state-of-the-art mobile bookstore reflecting both the vibrancy of Los Angeles and their commitment to community.

“We are happy to be in partnership with Code Read; creating this bookmobile is a great opportunity to give back to our community and get kids excited about reading too!” adds Ryan Friedlinghaus.

The launch of the Code Read Bookmobile is a testament to the power of collaboration and a clear demonstration of how the joy of reading can be accessible to all.
