Coal mine explosion in Iran, 51 miners dead: state media

According to the Associated Press news agency, on his way to New York for the United Nations General Assembly, Iranian President Masoud Pizshakyan said that he has ordered that all efforts be made to rescue the trapped people and help their families. . This is not the first fatal incident in Iran’s mining industry. In 2013, 11 miners were killed in two separate mining incidents. In 2009, 20 workers were killed in multiple incidents while in 2017, at least 42 people lost their lives in a coal mine explosion.

In Iran, poor mine safety standards and inadequate emergency services are often blamed for the deaths.
