SV Grieskirchen would definitely have imagined the start of the new season in the Landesliga West differently. At the beginning of the season, the Trattnachtaler were considered one of the title contenders, but after three games they only had one point on the board. That’s why coach Rudi Parzermair resigned of his own accord – but he still says: “My resignation was not a knee-jerk reaction, but carefully considered.”
The reasons for the Andorfer are as follows: “The spring was incredibly intense. I have been active in football as a player and coach for 22 years without a break. Recently I was no longer able to fulfil my duties. That is not enough for me, I have different expectations of myself.”
Grieskirchen needs a new fire – and Parzermair’s assistant coach Siegfried Krieg has already ignited it on his debut: against top team Bad Wimsbach, they managed a 3:2 victory. “The team showed a reaction,” said Grieskirchen sports director Josef Iglseder, who was himself surprised by his coach’s resignation: “The past few days have been very turbulent. We would definitely have continued with him, we were convinced of this path.”
It’s good that the club also has a top man in the second row with Krieg: “He has been very meticulous all week. We are not stressed about finding a coach.” Sooner or later, however, a new man will take over: “That was also communicated to Siegfried. We believe that an external man will do us good – and that is also fine for Siegfried, because he can learn something from a new coach.” But the successful fireman has already proven one thing: “That we can keep up with the best.”
