Bulgaria has expressed readiness to give fighter jets to Ukraine, BTA reported, referring to the American TV channel CNN.

The commitment is dated February 23 and is contained in one of the Pentagon documents leaked on social media regarding the plans of Ukraine’s Western allies last week.

According to him, Sofia has expressed readiness to donate its MiG-29 fighters. This is “challenging”, according to the report, because such a step would leave the country without the fighter jets needed to carry out its air policing patrols, at least until the delivery of US F-16 jets next year, reports BTA.

US officials said the investigation into the leak of the documents was in its early stages, but investigators did not rule out the possibility that it was linked to pro-Russian elements, Archyde.com notes.

Some of the documents appear to have been altered in a way that presents the Russian position in a more favorable light. At least one of them is marked as unclassified but contains top secret information.

In January, the American news agency “Bloomberg” reported that Bulgaria would give 14 Su-25 aircraft to Ukraine, which was denied by the Ministry of Defense.

The Commander-in-Chief and the Minister of Defense have repeatedly stated since the beginning of the war that Bulgaria will not provide its fighter jets to Ukraine, as well as that there will be no more deliveries of armaments and ammunition following the first shipment was sent, with which the National Assembly obliged them in December.
