CNN Brasil announced yesterday, Monday (27), that it has started to make its transmission signal available throughout the entire national territory, in an open manner, via satellite, for households that have Ku-band digital reception devices.
According to the news channel, the signal from the streaming has been released since the last Friday (24th) and the broadcaster can be found at number 577, the same number that CNN Brasil has among pay-television operators.
It is worth remembering that the Ku band signal range replaced the traditional 3.5 GHz C band, previously used for conventional satellite dishes, but which was intended for use in the 5G mobile connection network for telephone operators.
The Ku band is between 10.7 GHz and 18 GHz and is used for communication. The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) estimates that around 50 million people no country receive the open TV signal by satellite dishes.
“This is another important step for CNN Brasil, which will expand its reach and bring journalism of the highest quality to an ever-growing and diverse audience”, explains CNN’s Vice President of Management and New Business, Jerci Castro .
The measure aims to clash with Jovem Pan, a competitor that can already be tuned to the satellite dish since 2021. In addition to the signal available openly and by subscription, CNN Brasil is available on Prime Video and on its YouTube channel.
