The network quoted an unnamed former US diplomat, who it described as a “veteran of NATO summits,” as saying: “Biden’s performance in the debate with his rival Donald Trump has raised concerns among diplomats around the world.”
“The current US president will have to prove himself during the NATO summit to prove his political credibility and ability to remain a worthy competitor to Trump,” he added.
The diplomat pointed out that “despite the White House’s attempts to downplay Biden’s failed performance in the debate, the US president will be in the spotlight.”
“How does he look? How does he talk? How does he move? Does he look healthy? And I assume he and his team will focus on making him look alert and focused,” he added.
It is noteworthy that Biden’s performance in the debate caused a state of panic and chaos in the Democratic camp, as calls were issued for him to withdraw from the presidential race, but the White House and Joe Biden himself confirmed that this would not happen.
The first debate between Biden and Trump took place on June 27. The next round is scheduled for September 10, following Biden is officially nominated for the Democratic presidential nomination.
The US presidential election is scheduled to take place on November 5.
It is noteworthy that the NATO summit will be held in Washington from July 9 to 11.
