The authorities of the National Electoral Council (CNE) received this Thursday the members of the Panel of Electoral Experts of the United Nations (UN), who will accompany the next presidential elections on July 28.
Present at the CNE headquarters on behalf of the multilateral body were Domenico Tuccinardi, Head of the Panel of Electoral Experts of the United Nations (UN), Gianluca Rampolla del Tindaro, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Venezuela, Lourdes González, member of the Panel of Electoral Experts.
Likewise, Fernanda Abreu, member of the Electoral Panel of Experts, Roly Dávila, member of the Electoral Expert Panel, Jorge Grayeb, UN Electoral Affairs Officer, Antonio Aranibar, UN Special Advisor and Magdy Martínez, Resident Representative of the the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
In accordance with UN regulations, the members of the electoral panel have complete freedom to meet with political and social actors, as well as with electoral authorities and experts, and do not issue public statements regarding the conduct of an electoral process or its results.
On Tuesday, Foreign Minister Yván Gil received this panel of experts of the United Nations, with whom he spoke regarding the strengths of the Venezuelan electoral system.
The panel will remain in the country until a few days following the elections.
