CNE delays accreditation of witnesses supporting Edmundo González

The witnesses of the Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) before the Main Electoral Board, Delsa Solórzano, Juan Carlos Caldera and Perkins Rocha, reported this Tuesday that the National Electoral Council (CNE) is delaying the printing of the credentials of the electoral witnesses who support the presidential candidacy of Edmundo González.

In a joint live broadcast on social media, Solórzano reported that the MUD “98% of the table witnesses have been loaded into the system, but unfortunately the CNE has implemented different mechanisms in the automated system that slow down the possibility of us being able to accredit 100% of our witnesses”.

He said that “We have been faced with enormous difficulties which we have duly reported”He indicated that they have requested a meeting with the CNE rectors, but they have not been given a date for it.

He explained that since Thursday they have been sending communications to the CNE to resolve the problem, but they have not even been given back a copy of the documents they have submitted, with the stamp “received”, because the Correspondence Office has told them that they are not authorized to receive their communications.

Juan Carlos Caldera added that the system is even throwing up other errors, “There are witnesses that have already been uploaded and the system says that the witness does not exist. There is no justification for this not to be corrected.”he said.

For his part, Perkins Rocha pointed out that “These obstacles are not typical of what has been said to be the best electoral system in the world” and that witnesses “are the qualified eyes of the citizens. Without them there is no transparent electoral process. We demand that it be resolved today”.
