This is an important change in the long history of La Tribune, created in 1985. After unveiling a promise to purchase at the end of May, the CMA CGM group formalized this Thursday “the finalization of the acquisition of 100% of the capital of the HIMA Group, owner of the newspaper La Tribune”.

Until this takeover, the HIMA group, owner of 72% of La Tribune – the balance belonging to the entrepreneur Laurent Alexandre, founder of Doctissimo -, was 20% owned by the entrepreneur Jean-Christophe Tortora and 80% by Franck Julien, boss of the business service giant Atalian.

As part of this takeover, “Jean-Christophe Tortora, president of La Tribune, will continue his action with the editorial staff and all the newspaper’s teams”adds the group chaired by Rodolphe Saadé in a press release.

CMA CGM, the world’s third-largest shipowner, became the owner of the press group La Provence, which also owns Corse Matin, in October 2022, following a long duel with Xavier Niel, owner of Nice Matin. He then entered the capital of the audiovisual group M6, then, at the beginning of April, that of the online video media Brut. To lead its media branch, CMA CGM Media, the group recruited Laurent Guimier, former director of information for France Télévisions and former director of Figaro, France Infos and Europe 1, in early March.
