Although he is still under contract with All Elite Wrestling and that he is preparing to make his return in front of the cameras of Tony Khan, CM Punk showed up backstage at RAW last night in Chicago in his city .
The PWInsider and Fightful give us an update on why CM Punk was backstage at RAW and what he did before leaving.
CM Punk was in Florida last weekend commentating on a Cage Fury Fighting Championships (MMA) show. While flying out of Tampa, he coincidentally found himself on the same flight as several WWE Superstars and staff members, including a producer. He learned during this flight that WWE was going to organize RAW from the Allstate Arena in Chicago (Rosemont).
Shortly before the start of RAW, CM Punk arrived on the scene and some talent brought him to the arena (amphitheater) and not the arena (ring) as some sites confuse.
He ended up in a common place, in full view of everyone who passed him. This is how CM Punk met Triple H, surprised by his presence. A person who saw the interaction claims they shook hands, CM Punk asked him if he might hang out in the halls and if they might talk for two minutes. Triple H then replied that he had to do with the “big guy”, certainly referring to Vince McMahon. This interaction lasted between one and two minutes.
While at this location, CM Punk spoke with other passing Superstars, including The Miz with whom he was able to work out their various issues. People who saw CM Punk greeted him warmly. Some people who hadn’t seen him wondered “what was he doing there. »
It has been reported that CM Punk never went into closed rooms, offices or private dressing rooms, and he remained throughout his time in this common area. No “secret meeting” is therefore to be declared according to multiple sources.
20 minutes following meeting Triple H, CM Punk was told by WWE Security Officer Jim Kelly that he had to leave. CM Punk respected this decision and said goodbye before leaving.
An inside source believes CM Punk had to leave because he is under contract with AEW. Other people disagree because Malakai Black or Andrade El Idolo appeared alongside their wives during the Hall of Fame this year. (which however is not backstage during a show). A source points out that the history between WWE and CM Punk makes this situation totally different.
From what he is told, CM Punk would not have tried to see if WWE is interested in him because he is under contract with AEW for a long time and might not negotiate with WWE at present because the everything would be considered raiding. Both ways the whole thing is illegal according to his contract.
Many people on the AEW side did not know that CM Punk was planning to go behind the scenes of RAW. The PWInsider doesn’t think AEW cooked it all up.
A lot of people, whether in AEW or WWE, thought CM Punk’s presence backstage was a fake story. While several WWE talents believe that CM Punk was there to do a publicity stunt before his return to AEW. The PWInsider has been informed that this is not the case. His presence was not even filmed by a person to try to publish the images on social networks. But one thing is certain, not everyone is talking today.
A WWE contractee who saw CM Punk believes CM Punk just wanted to work out his issues with The Miz and that’s certainly what he wanted to do with Triple H. And everyone knows that ironing seeing old friends no matter how it ended is always a moment in a lifetime.
