CM Punk was one of the protagonists of the press conference following AEW Revolutionwhere he discussed various matters of interest, such as Tony Khan’s purchase of ROH and his performance with MJG in the Dog Collar Match held during the event.
One of CM Punk’s comments occurred when asked by Bret “The Hitman” Hart. The AEW star surprised by assuring that if he had the opportunity to do so, he would give his second chance in the world of wrestling to Bret Hart, who stopped competing in 2000 due to injury.
“I love Bret Hart,” commented CM Punk. “Bret Hart’s career was cut short. And it’s a bloody tragedy. There are people who go to Saudi Arabia and get millions of dollars, and that should have gone to Bret. I am super grateful to have had a second chance. She would leave it without thinking to give it to Bret“.
Bret Hart stopped wrestling regularly in 2000 following receiving a kick to the head by Bill Goldberg at the WCW Starrcade 1999 event, an injury that caused him many problems in the years that followed. Hart played a few more matches, but was forced to stop fighting due to a disability caused by that and another injury. Ten years later, he returned to action facing Vince McMahon at WretsleMania XXVI. He participated in a few more matches until 2011.
CM Punk’s reference to Saudi Arabia is likely a dig at Goldberg. You can watch the kick that knocked out Bret “The Hitman” Hart below.
