Club: Links between PSG and Braga created by QSI?

New minority shareholder of SC Braga, the owner of PSG Qatar Sport Investments (QSI) might create close links between the two clubs of which he is a capital. The possibility of seeing young people from PSG going to toughen up in Portugal exists.

Qatar has come to expand its small empire in football. In search of a new investment lately, the company Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) turned to Portugal and became a new minority shareholder of SC Braga. In an official press release published Monday morning, the owner of PSG announced the acquisition of 21.67% of the share capital of the Portuguese club.

Portugal is a country built on football – with some of the most passionate fans and one of the best talent networks in the world. SC Braga are an exemplary Portuguese institution – with a prestigious history, enormous ambition and a reputation for excellence on and off the pitch said Nasser al-Khelaïfi, head of QSI.

No partnership but synergies between PSG and Braga?

Mentioned as a possible satellite club of PSG in the future, SC Braga had closed the door to this possibility via its president Antonio Salvador, who had however opened up to the entry of a Qatari shareholder into the club. With QSI now in the capital of the resident of Liga Bwin, synergies between the two teams might well be created. This summer, youngsters Jordan Monteiro and Enzo Tayamoutou have already joined the Portuguese club to play there in the youth categories.

In its edition of the day, L’Équipe looks back on the possibility of seeing young shoots from the Parisian training center harden up in Braga, which also plays in an U23 championship and which has reserves in the second and third Portuguese division. Undeniably, PSG might also find themselves on pole to welcome the best local hopes. In the future, it would therefore not be surprising to see movements take place between the two teams, which has already been the case this summer. It might in any case be accentuated, like the good relations maintained with KAS Eupen in Belgium.
