Club Brugge chairman and largest shareholder, Bart Fairhey, along with some of its other owners are looking for a buyer for the football team.

“We are strategically studying the best opportunities in the market. At the moment there is no real offer yet,” the club said in a statement, in which it did not confirm or deny the information received by the (Sporta) sports radio.

The program stated that the club’s owners distributed a file to potential buyers in the world of finance, as the file stated that “following a decade has passed since the club’s presidency, Bart Fairhay and the group of owners announce that they are ready to launch other activities far from football.”

71.89% of the club’s shares belong to the (Grizzly Sports) company owned by Verhay, Vincent Mannert, Jan Bon and Peter Vanek, while the remaining 23.26% is owned by the American investment fund (Urcilla Capital) two years ago.

Verhay assumed his position as president of the club in 2011, and following one year he transferred the club to a company and became its owner in exchange for 15 million euros.

Club Brugge, the Belgian League champion for 17 times in its history, is currently fourth in the championship and without the possibility of winning the title.

This season, the team made a historic start under the leadership of national coach Karl Höfkens, as it succeeded in qualifying as the leader of its group in the Champions League.
