China’s garment industry saw revenue growth in the first five months of the year, official data showed.
From January to May, the country’s 13,053 major garment makers earned total revenue of 561.1 billion yuan (about 83.9 billion U.S. dollars), up 6.1 percent year on year, the ministry said. Chinese Industry and Information Technology.
The total profits of these companies fell 4.6% year on year to 23.3 billion yuan. Their combined output increased 0.5% year-on-year to 9.3 billion pieces.
During the January-May period, the country’s apparel and accessories exports rose 10.2 percent to $62.2 billion, ministry data showed.
