Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno confirmed that the plan to temporarily close Komodo National Park in 2025 will not affect the target of visits by foreign tourists (Wisman) or domestic tourists (Wisnus).

“The closure of Komodo National Park will not affect the target of tourist visits because we see that Labuan Bajo is developing other tourist attractions besides Komodo National Park,” said Sandiaga on the sidelines of attending the Wonderful Indonesia Co-Branding Forum II in Jakarta, Friday (26/7) evening.

According to him, with the plan to temporarily close the Komodo National Park area in West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara in mid-2025, the area must develop other tourist attractions.

He said that with the closure of Komodo National Park, visitors will be directed to other tourist attractions, namely tourist villages in the area.

“We are directing to tourist villages and also to other spots outside Komodo National Park,” he said.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy also emphasized the importance of maintaining and managing tourist villages well so that they remain attractive and beneficial to local communities and visitors. Thus, the closure of Komodo National Park will not reduce the interest of tourists to visit the area.

In general, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy targets domestic or domestic tourist visits in 2024 to reach 1.2 billion-1.5 billion people. Meanwhile, for foreign tourists, the target is 17 million visits.

Previously, the Tourism and Creative Economy Office of East Nusa Tenggara Province admitted that it had not received detailed information regarding the plan to temporarily close the Komodo National Park (TN) area on Komodo Island, West Manggarai Regency in mid-2025. (Ant/Z-11)
