The Alexandra and Macdonald-Cartier bridges between Gatineau and Ottawa were closed Friday night ahead of Saturday’s truckers’ protest in the capital.

“As a precaution and safety measure due to a protest planned for this weekend in Ottawa, Public Services and Procurement Canada would like to advise motorists that the Alexandra Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic until further notice beginning Friday. January 28, at 6 p.m. ”, might we read in the press release issued the same day.
A similar message was sent regarding the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge, some lanes of which were closed from 8 p.m.
“During this period, two lanes in each direction will be open to automobile traffic,” it is specified.
A load limit is also imposed on all types of vehicles crossing these bridges.
