The latter hosts two Russian cargo companies on its tarmac: Atran, which operates between three and six flights per week to Liège, and Airbridge Cargo, which provides 11 weekly flights.
“In 2021, Liege Airport handled 1.4 million tonnes of goods, of which 86,000 tonnes are to be credited to Airbridge Cargo, i.e. approximately 6% of the airport’s total tonnage. This is not trivial”, the manager said.
“We had been expecting the closure of Belgian airspace for several days. It will have consequences for the entire ‘supply chain’, and in particular for the workers in charge of handling for whom measures of economic unemployment might be envisaged”, he added.
An Atran plane took off once more this Sunday noon. Another from Airbridge Cargo followed in the middle of the followingnoon. Russian companies have 24 hours to bring their devices back to the country.
