Al-Madina News: The “Tiro Association for Arts” and “Istanbouli Theater” concluded the activities of the first session of the “Tripoli International Theater Festival,” which coincided with the opening of “Cinema Amber” following 28 years of absence, to turn into the “Lebanese National Theater” as a free cultural platform. Independent for people, in which training workshops, festivals, art performances and a public library are organized, and theater performances from Algeria, Tunisia, Mexico, Iraq, Oman, Italy, Spain and Lebanon participated in the festival.

The closing ceremony began with a street carnival and words were shown across the screen from the lady of the Arab theater, the artist Samiha Ayoub, the artist Mohamed Sobhi, and the artists Salah Tizani and Abdullah Homsi from Lebanon. The festival includes representatives of the Lebanese Ministry of Culture, the Embassy of Austria and Sudan, Tripoli Municipality, the Artists Syndicate, the Syndicate of Theater, Film and Television Actors, representatives of clubs and cultural associations, and a crowd of families and students.

Actor and director Qassem Istanbouli, founder of the Lebanese National Theatre, affirmed: “The aim of the festival is to establish a theatrical movement in the city of Tripoli and establish a link between the south and the north, as it is a continuation of our dream that had begun with the establishment of the Lebanese National Theater in the city of Tyre, four years ago, which is The first free theater and cinema in Lebanon, and thanks to the efforts of the youth, we are achieving post-cultural centralization and breaking the imaginary wall between regions, and saluting His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi.”

The jury, consisting of Spanish director Ana Sandrero Alfrez, actor Omar Mikati and director Salah Atwi from Lebanon, announced the results of the festival awards, and came as follows: She won the Best Actress award Hawar Fares Ezzedine for the play Burning Like a Phoenix from Iraqi Kurdistan, and the Best Text Award for the play Antigona from Mexico And the Best Scenography Award for the play How do you make a boiled egg? From the Sultanate of Oman, the jury praised the presentation of Phobia from Iraq, and the show of clowning from Italy, and the award for best actor and best integrated show was withheld.

At the festival, the play “The Time” from Algeria, “Your Stories on the Stage” by Laban Troupe from Lebanon, “Burning Like a Phoenix” from Iraqi Kurdistan, “Phobia” from Iraq, “Reenactment Theater” by Sada Troupe from Lebanon and “The Art of Clown Show” were shown at the festival. Paolo Aftanio from Italy and “How to make a boiled egg?” From the Sultanate of Oman, “Tales from the Hill” by Tiro Art Troupe, “Antigone” from Mexico and Spain, and “A Cry of Loyalty” from Lebanon.
