At the crossroads of education, technology and innovation, the closing of the Seeds for the Future program resonated like a symphony of hope and possibilities for Tunisian youth. This ceremony marked much more than an end; it signaled the beginning of an era where seeds planted today will blossom into innovative solutions tomorrow.

Seeds for the future, a global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative launched by technology giant Huawei in 2008, has laid a solid foundation for the growth of talent in the field of information and communications technology ( TIC).

The closing ceremony of this program, held Monday evening in Tunis, was an opportunity to highlight the significant impact on the educational ecosystem and international cooperation, on the one hand, and to crystallize the importance of training a generation ready to take on digital challenges, on the other hand.

A technological heritage

In a statement to the media, Adnane Ben Halima, vice president in charge of public relations for the Mediterranean region of Huawei Northern Africa, indicated that this event announces the closure of two emblematic programs, Seeds for the Future and ICT Academy.

Seeds for the Future, in its ninth edition since its launch in 2015 under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, is a program designed to select the elite of Tunisian engineering students. Although health constraints have moved introductory courses from China to Tunisia in recent years, the content of these courses remains exceptionally rich. Students were immersed in the latest technologies, such as 5G, cloud and artificial intelligence. “More than just a technological exploration, Seeds for the future also offers an introduction to business culture and Chinese culture, providing students with a comprehensive and holistic experience,” he said.

Ben Halima also emphasized that the program goes beyond the transmission of technical skills by promoting cooperation between students, teamwork, and the improvement of soft skills. Winning teams even have the opportunity to participate in international competitions, reinforcing the global nature of this innovative program.

Regarding the second part of the ceremony, it was devoted to the award ceremony of the ICT Academy program, launched in Tunisia a few years ago. The latter aims to train professors who introduce new technologies into their university courses, thus creating an ecosystem conducive to the dissemination of knowledge. The awards were given not only to students, but also to professors and university directors, highlighting the importance of collaboration in this educational ecosystem.

“ICT Academy aims to train and certify a growing number of people. To date, more than 7,000 students have been trained, and Huawei aspires to reach an impressive number of 15,000 students trained in the future,” he said, while emphasizing Huawei’s continued commitment to Tunisia, describing these initiatives as significant contributions to boosting the country’s educational ecosystem. “These programs illustrate how Huawei is promoting ethics and creating a solid foundation for Tunisia’s technological future.”

Innovative collaboration for the future of higher education

Looking to the future, he stressed the need to maintain Tunisia’s leadership in the digital sector, proposing three areas of focus: infrastructure, policy and intelligence. He added that the efforts carried out by the different parties involved in this program will contribute to strengthening Tunisia’s potential in the digital economy, thus benefiting society and its citizens.
