Almost 100 percent of our income comes from contributions from AK members. It is therefore important to us to use the money efficiently

Linz – In 2022, the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor spent most of its budget of more than 108 million euros on advising and representing its 692,544 members. The number of consultations was around 321,000, of which almost 220,000 were in labor and social law. “Almost 100 percent of our income comes from contributions from AK members. It is therefore important to us to use the money efficiently
“, says AK director Andrea Heimberger, MSc.
With a medium income, the membership fee for AK Oberösterreich 2022 was around nine euros net per month. The Chamber of Labor earned most of its income from the Chamber contribution. In the previous year, it totaled a good 102.8 million euros. The number of members increased by 2.2 percent compared to the previous year to 692,544 (as of the end of 2022). Of these, around 15.8 percent did not pay any AK contribution because they were marginally employed, on maternity leave, in an apprenticeship, in military or community service or looking for work.
Most of the income was used for labor and social law advice, for consumer advice and for educational advice. In 2022, the AK fought for 105.2 million euros in labor law, social law, consumer rights and insolvency proceedings for its members (plus 16 million euros). Around 80 percent of them related to labor and social law. Last year, around 15,200 legal acts were processed by the lawyers at AK Oberösterreich. The AK was able to settle almost 10,500 legal cases for its members in labor and social law matters, in insolvency proceedings and in consumer protection, either in or out of court. Eight out of ten employees for whom the AK intervened were employed in companies where there was no works council. As an extraordinary direct benefit, the AK school bonus was newly offered in 2022. With this, members were supported in times of rising prices with a total amount of around 3.45 million euros in coping with school expenses. Demand for the AK Oberösterreich offer is still high online: last year there were more than 6.8 million hits on the AK homepage.
