Close YouTube Go, the app to watch videos offline

And 2018 YouTube launched the YouTube Go app to allow you to watch videos and share them without having to be connected to the Internet. The app was created with weakly connected areas and emerging markets in which users had mobiles with little memory.

YouTube Go was an app launched in 2018 to allow its users to play and share videos without the need for an Internet connection

Now, the company has announced that this app will disappear in August, and that the function of allowing you to watch and download videos in a light format will be integrated into the main YouTube app.

The company believes that, over the years, the YouTube Go tool has become unnecessary. The app was developed at a time when Internet connectivity was poor in many parts of the world, and when mobile devices had a lower capacity than what is usual in the market today. Progress in this area, as well as certain improvements in the main YouTube app, make the light version that Go offered expendable.

In recent years, the app YouTube has become more efficient for low-end phones and bad connection. Likewise, the team has announced that they are working on new tools to improve accessibility for those users who have little data.

The company now recommends YouTube Go users to install the main application of the platform on their terminals. This, unlike Gol, allows users to comment, publish posts, create content and turn on dark mode.

YouTube Go initially launched in India and Indonesia following a trial period, eventually becoming available in more than 130 countries. The app, initially, weighed only 10 megabytes. However, successive updates made it somewhat heavier.
