The interactive tour on the topic of climate in the city of Vienna reached around 4,500 students with its workshops.
Vienna (OTS) – Vienna has set itself an important goal: the city should become climate neutral by 2040 and has set out the path there in the climate roadmap. In order to get Viennese people excited regarding the topic at a young age and to motivate them to take part, the Vienna Climate Tour visited a total of 185 school classes this year. On 36 days of operation, the city’s experts held workshops in two elementary schools, four middle schools, eleven federal high schools and two HTL/HTBLAs. With the help of the eight e-cargo bikes and learning methods individually adapted to the school and age group, the students were interactively familiarized with the various subject areas from circular economy and green space to water and energy.
Continuation planned
The positive feedback is prompting the Climate Tour to continue its school visits next year. “We are very impressed by how exciting and varied the visits to the Viennese schools were. The interest shown by students in all classes showed us how important the issue of climate protection is, especially for young people. We want to continue to build on this!” says Climate City Councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky.
