Thiruvananthapuram
Caution is advised in case of extreme rise in atmospheric temperature due to climate change. Health Minister Veena George has directed DMOs to ensure treatment for sun-related problems.

Do not take lightly

Sunburn is a condition in which the body’s thermoregulatory system fails to function due to overheating. If you feel sunburned, move to the shade. Thick clothing should be removed. The body needs to cool down. Drink water. Eat fruits. Special care should be taken by the elderly, children, pregnant women, the sick and those who work in the sun. Seek medical attention immediately if you experience high body temperature, dry red body, severe headache, dizziness, slow pulse, or unconsciousness.

Precautions should be taken

Drink plenty of water. Take a break from work from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Do not play in the sun‌. Keep doors and windows open.

Heat rash

Sweating can also cause ‘heat rash’. Children are most affected. Such people should not be exposed to too much sun.
