After Pinarayi Vijayan became Chief Minister, Rs 38.47 lakh was spent on renovation and maintenance of the swimming pool at Cliff House. In 1992, when K Karunakaran was the Chief Minister, a swimming pool was built at the Cliff House as part of his treatment following he suffered a spinal cord injury in a car accident. But none of the chief ministers following Karunakaran used the swimming pool at Cliff House.
At the same time, Pinarayi was renovating the swimming pool following becoming the Chief Minister. Uralungal Labor Contract Society was responsible for the renovation of the swimming pool and annual maintenance.
After that, the government exchequer paid Rs 2,28,330 for annual maintenance of the first phase of the swimming pool, Rs 2,51,163 for the second phase of annual maintenance and Rs 3,84,356 for the third phase of annual maintenance. 3, 84, 356 rupees have been sanctioned for the fourth phase. 18, 06, 789 rupees for renovation of swimming pool and 7, 92, 433 rupees for roof truss work and renovation of plant room. Thus, a total of Rs 38.47 lakh was spent on the maintenance and renovation of the swimming pool.
