Clichéd ‘Butterfly’- Review | Anupama Parameswaran Movie Butterfly Review

NoAnupama Parameswaran is the female lead in the film Butterfly directed by veteran Ghanta Satish Babu. The film is a mystery thriller and the screenplay is also written by Ghanta Satish Babu. Apart from Telugu, the film which was released directly through Hotstar can also be enjoyed in Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada languages.

Butterfly is the story of famous criminal lawyer Vyjayanthi and her only sister-in-law Geetha. Both were orphaned at a young age. Self-educated, Vaijayanti became a good lawyer and brought up her sister-in-law with good education. Geetha lives with Vaijayanti and their children, who are about to separate from her husband. Geeta, who loves her sister like a mother, also calls her as mother. The story takes a turn when Vaijayanti’s children go missing.

The film tells the story of Geeta and her lover Vishwa’s efforts to find their children and its consequences. The story is told in a way that maintains a lot of mystery. Along with that, the film tells about women who overcome poverty and come forward, society’s view towards them and violence against children.

But due to the flaw in the screenplay, there is a huge gap between the thriller moods, which often hinders the viewing pleasure of the audience. Occasional comedy scenes also spoil the thriller mood of the film. Moreover, the film becomes a line of cliché due to the prevalence of melodrama.

Rao Ramesh has done her character very well in his limited time. Nihal Kodatti is also doing well. Praveen, Racha Ravi, Prabhu, Rajitha, Vennala Rama Rao, Meghana, Master Devannu and Baby Adhya are the other actors.

The cinematography of the film is done by Sameer Reddy, music by Arvis and Gideon Katta, editing by Madhu and story-screenplay-direction by Ghanda Satish Babu. Despite being full of clichés, Butterfly is a movie worth watching once.
