TORONTO — Kole Calhoun hit a game-tying double in the 11th inning and the Cleveland Guardians beat the Toronto Blue Jays 10-7 on Sunday.
José Ramírez and Ramón Laureano hit two-run home runs as the Guardians won their second of three games in Toronto.
Calhoun said he hopes the victory will energize Cleveland ahead of its three-game series once morest AL Central-leading Minnesota.
“Let’s hope to use that momentum as we prepare for the biggest series of the year for us right now. It’s definitely a game you can capitalize on.”
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Davis Schneider both hit two-run homers, and George Springer hit a solo shot, but it wasn’t enough for the Blue Jays, who have lost five of their last six games.
Jay Jackson (3-1) intentionally walked Ramirez in the 11th inning, and his wild pitch put runners on second and third before Calhoun’s double.
Emmanuel Clase (2-7) collected the final 5 outs for the win.
For the Guardians, the Dominicans José Ramírez batted 2-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Ramón Laureano 3-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored; and Venezuelan Andrés Giménez 6-1 with two RBIs.
For the Blue Jays, the Dominican Vladimir Guerrero Jr. batted 5-1 with two RBIs and one scored.
