DONOVAN Mitchell led the Cleveland Cavaliers to end the Orlando Magic’s run by winning 106-94 in Game 7 of the first round of the NBA playoffs, Monday (6/5) WIB.
In the second round of the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs, the Cavaliers will face the top-seeded Boston Celtics.
Mitchell made a splash in Game 7 of the NBA playoffs against the Magic by scoring 39 points, two days after he scored 50 points in the Cavaliers’ Game 6 loss.
This time, Mitchell had the support of his teammates as the Cavaliers rallied from an 18-point deficit in the second quarter to win in a playoff series where the home team always wins.
Caris LeVert scored 15 points and Max Strus scored 11 of his 13 points in the third quarter as the Cavaliers blew a 33-15 lead over the Magic.
Evan Mobley scored 11 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks to help the Cavaliers overcome the Magic, supported by 38 points scored by Paolo Banchero.
The Cavaliers advanced to the second round of the NBA playoffs after being knocked out by the New York Knicks in the first round last season.
“I don’t want to go home,” Mitchell said when asked what was going through his mind as he scored 17 points in the third quarter to turn the lead around for the Cavaliers. (AFP/Z-1)
