Guingamp missed the start of the match. While the debates seemed balanced, Clermont dived twice: Magnin after a poorly cleared corner (1-0, 10′) then Diop, who took advantage of the naivety of the Costa Rican defense to adjust Basilio thanks to a nice movement from body in front of Sissoko (2-0, 15′). Two goals from Clermont’s first two chances, the second worst attack in Ligue 2 before the match. Enough to change the imagined tactics.
2 A start but no goal…
The Guingamp attack, deprived of Amine Hemia, the club’s co-top scorer (4 goals), injured, had difficulty reacting. If Labeau (17′, 37′), Picard at close range (20′) and Siwe (22′) tried, they came up against (the first two mentioned) an excellent Théo Guivarch, the Breton goalkeeper (born in Lorient , passed through Lorient, Guingamp and Concarneau) from Clermont, holder for the first time.
3… Before you sink
The start of the second half was clearly to EAG’s advantage. But when Louiserre lost the ball, pushed and calling for a foul, Diédhiou was used alone to light Basilio and put Clermont away (3-0, 56′). Diop, very well served by the same Diédhiou, scored a double after eliminating a defender then the Guingamp goalkeeper as well as their hopes of victory (4-0, 56′). At the start of the action, it was Ghrieb (56′) who hit the post… Alone 6m away, Siwe then missed his shot (57′). When it doesn’t work… Another downside, defender Sohaib Nair left with an injury (63′).
4 One month after Red Star
This is the second time this season that the Costa Ricans have conceded four goals (Red Star, 4-3 defeat). They are 6th in Ligue 2 before the international break.
