So we get crushed by Georgia, and just like that, the hype train comes to an abrupt halt. We realize this season may not unfold as we had hoped.

Sorry, I accidentally hit post. After that crushing loss, we realized our hopes and dreams for the season diminished significantly. But then, unexpectedly, we rallied to rip off six straight wins with impressive offensive performances, restoring our hopes for a potential playoff spot. Alas, these hopes were soon deflated by the next opponent we faced. Such is college football—a fickle mistress indeed.

Not exactly betrayed, but certainly surprised. After the opener, we thought the subsequent performances signified a comeback. However, we failed to consider the weaknesses of our opponents, and therefore, I still believe we were overly thrashed by what seemed like a relatively weak (three-loss) opponent at home.

Yeah… I was all in, and I’m usually on the more pessimistic side among alumni. I will be attending the game in Blacksburg, and I sincerely hope they manage to bounce back. Go Tigers!

Betrayed by the coaching staff… During fall practice, we were promised remarkable performances and an abundance of All-American accolades. Yet, these same flattering remarks have been echoed for years. Previous talent has shadowed the coaches’ true capabilities—worthy individuals, but perhaps not the best on the coaching front.

I don’t feel a sense of betrayal at all. My recollection of past seasons is filled with hardships, where hope for redemption was non-existent. The match against Louisville wasn’t pretty, but it proved to be a harsh dose of reality. We expected the same old explanations—outcoached, outplayed, and so forth. I have faith that we will turn this around, but our experiences from 2016 and 2018 have led many to feel spoiled. I hope for victory in the remaining games, aiming for a bowl game, no matter how decent it may be. Go Tigers!

I don’t feel betrayed whatsoever. Throughout the six-win streak, I have maintained a cautious optimism. Concerning the future bowls, their viewership has drastically declined due to the four-team playoff format. I’m genuinely concerned about which bowls might fold after this season—the situation appears grim for attendance unless one of the twelve teams gets selected. The expectation for opt-outs and dwindling attendance could be even worse this round of bowls than what we’ve seen in recent years.

I honestly HOPE Clemson loses to Va Tech, Pitt, and the Gamecocks now. If finishing 7-5 is the price to pay for increasing pressure to let Dabo go, then so be it. His journey as head coach has apparently peaked, and the regression he exhibits is glaringly evident. Perhaps we require new leadership in the HC position; four years of slow decay feels like enough. After the Louisville debacle, my eyes have been opened. Both Josh Pate and Paul Finebaum were right; the situation cannot continue. Without change, Clemson may never return to the CFP, let alone secure another national title. I’ve grown accustomed to the two national championships, and now I seek excellence—not a mediocrity of mid-tier performances.

I stopped reading after someone expressed the desire for a loss while claiming to love the program.

I smell chicken. If by some odd chance you are a Tiger, then you REALLY don’t understand football.

I don’t share your sentiment. Initially, I believed we would finish the season with a record of 9-3. Now, I foresee the outcome as potentially 8-4.

I honestly HOPE Clemson loses to Va Tech, Pitt, and the Gamecocks now. Finishing 7-5 might create enough pressure to force Dabo out, as he seems to have taken the program as far as he can. His regression as a head coach has become painfully evident. We desperately require new leadership; four years of slow deterioration is simply too much. My awakening came after the Louisville disaster. Josh Pate and Paul Finebaum were right. The time for change is now. Until Dabo is gone, Clemson is unlikely to reclaim its place in the CFP, let alone win another national championship. I’ve become too accustomed to our previous successes. Excellence is now my priority, not mediocrity.

We have not had a season since the decisive loss to LSU.

Re: Anyone else feel somewhat betrayed by this football team/ season?

I don’t feel betrayed at all. I accurately predicted how this season would unfold before it began. I was met with skepticism for suggesting that our opponents had consistently been weak, even when I presented their statistics. To anyone who did not blindly follow Dabo’s narratives, the writing was on the wall. I see clearly, but my frustration lies in how some continue to let him run the program into the ground while financially rewarding friends and family.
