Work is underway on this coastal beach to purge it of all explosive devices it may have contained since the two world wars.
A total of 250 explosives were thus defused. Most of the time, these are small devices, but the one found this Wednesday is a large specimen. In this case, a security perimeter is established.
The dike and the beach of Oostduinkerke were closed to the public on Wednesday morning and this measure should last until the beginning of the afternoon, according to the mayor, Marc Vanden Bussche. The explosive device removal and destruction service (SEDEE) was called in to help defuse the bomb.
